With Christmas less than two weeks away, most of us are still scrambling to get our holiday shopping done. The end of the year is prime time for retail stores, but it’s also he busy season for identity thieves.

We’ve listed a variety of articles below detailing ways to keep safe this holiday season, but here’s a few common ideas you’ll see among the articles:

1.) Use a credit card, not a debit card. It’s much harder to dispute claims with a debit card and your cash might be tied up in the meantime.

2.) Don’t shop online using public wifi. Resist the temptation to get a little shopping done while you’re at the local coffee shop. You don’t know who could be trying to access your device on an un-secured network.

3.) Shop online at known websites that use security. Never type you credit card info into your browser unless it is at a known site and your browser is showing you have a secure connection.

4.) Don’t fill out forms. Whether it’s for a new store card or a sweepstakes. Putting your information on paper at a mall kiosk is not a good idea.

5.) Keep an eye on your accounts. Review your credit card account frequently and look for unknown purchases or suspicious amounts.
